2. What data we process and where it comes from
We process the data you provide to us directly through the forms on this website, by email, by telephone or in person at our premises: name and surname, telephone number, email address, the content of your enquiry and, once a transaction moves forward, the data needed to complete the sale and the change of ownership of the vehicle.
We do not collect special categories of data. If you provide us with data relating to other people, it is your responsibility to have informed them of this processing beforehand.
3. What we use your data for, and on what legal basis
- Answering your enquiries about vehicles. Legal basis: your consent and the taking of steps at your request prior to entering into a contract (art. 6.1.a and 6.1.b GDPR).
- Handling the sale of the vehicle and the associated formalities, including the change of ownership. Legal basis: performance of the contract (art. 6.1.b GDPR).
- Complying with our legal obligations in tax, accounting and consumer matters. Legal basis: legal obligation (art. 6.1.c GDPR).
- Sending you commercial information about vehicles that may interest you, only if you have authorised it. Legal basis: your consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR), which you may withdraw at any time.
4. How long we keep it
Data from enquiries that do not lead to a purchase is kept for a maximum of twelve months from the last contact. Data from completed transactions is kept for the periods required by tax, accounting and guarantee legislation — generally six years — and is then blocked until any possible liabilities have lapsed.
5. Who we share your data with
We do not pass your data to third parties for commercial purposes. It may be accessed, solely in order to provide us with their services and under a data processing agreement, by our technology providers: our web hosting provider and our email provider, both located in the European Union.
We will also disclose your data where there is a legal obligation to do so, in particular to the tax authorities, to the Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) for the change of ownership of the vehicle, and to financial or insurance companies when you yourself ask us to arrange finance or insurance.
6. International transfers
We do not transfer data outside the European Economic Area. Should this become necessary in the future, it would be done with the safeguards set out in Chapter V of the GDPR and you would be informed beforehand.
7. Your rights
You may at any time exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability, and withdraw any consent you have given, by writing to sales@catalexcars.es or to the postal address given above, stating which right you are exercising and enclosing a copy of a document proving your identity.
If you believe that we have not dealt with your request properly, you may lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, C/ Jorge Juan, 6, 28001 Madrid — www.aepd.es).
8. Security
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against destruction, loss, alteration or unauthorised access, taking into account the state of the art and the risks of the processing.
9. Cookies
This website uses cookies. You can find out which cookies we use and how to configure them in the cookie policy.
10. Minors
